Botany BC 2011 Program (revised July 1, 2011)
Botany BC is an annual gathering of professional and amateur botanists from B.C.
and nearby areas. This year`s event will be in the Tatlayoko Lake area. It will
feature botanical forays in the Potato Mountain meadows and alpine as well as local
wetlands and grasslands and other alpine areas. There will be interesting and diverse
talks on the Thursday and Saturday evenings.
Everyone is welcome. Registration
is $50 (regular) before June 15 and $60 after June 15. Student registration fee
is $35. A welcome social event, two
dinners and all walks and talks are included.

pm: Full day Hike in the Potato Range
Meet at Bracewell’s Ranch for a botanical hike to Potato Mountain.
We will hike up the S
aspect flower meadows featuring balsamroot and spring beauty. Some sections are
relatively steep. The more adventuresome could make it into the
parkland/alpine where the terrain is gently rolling with many lovely
flowers.
Alternate hikes
starting from Bracewell’s Ranch for those who are
less ambitious or who would like to move at a slower pace are also
available. There are several walks which
start from Bracewell’s Ranch and which can take
anywhere from 40 minutes to 2-3 hours to complete.

9:00 am Day Long Field trips - enroute
home. Meet at Lincoln Creek Ranch (at the north
end of Tatlayoko Lake).
Option 1) Perkins Peak - drive to the alpine and botanize
in the meadows.
Option 2) Grasslands at Chilko Lk – drive to the Lake and botanize in the area.
