6:30 pm – 7:30 pm:  Meet and greet at Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre (http://www.nkmipdesert.com/explore.asp) and any last minute registrations. Snacks and cash bar.

7:30 pm – @ 9:30 pm:  Introductions and Welcoming ceremony and prayer by Osoyoos Indian band elder, Modesta Stelkia-Betterton and Chief Clarence Louie, Debut Film:  “Coyote Spirit,” and Botany BC program:  Historical (Pre-European settlement) Ecosystem Mapping for the Okanagan Valley and its use in Conservation Planning” by Ted Lea (BC MOE, Victoria), Review Friday/Saturday field trips

 

Friday May 11th, 2007

8:30 am:  Gather in Outdoor Gallery (amphitheatre) at Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre to pick up lunches & review day’s plans.

Field Trip to Mount Kobau and Similkameen River near Chopaka for Group 1 and Haynes Lease for Group 2 (divide into two groups, each individual chooses one group and joins the other one the next day) and return to Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre by @5:00 pm.

Dinner on own (we encourage you to form splinter groups and take advantage of the assemblage of experts and professionals; see dining ideas in the registration document)

 

7:30 pm – @ 9:30 pm :  Presentations at Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre:

1.              Don Gayton: Grasslands of the Okanagan

2.              Terry McIntosh & Ole Westby:  Okanagan Plants and Landscapes

 

Saturday May 12th, 2007

8:30 am:  Gather in Outdoor Gallery at Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre to pick up lunches & review day’s plans.

6:00 pm – 8:00 pm:  Salmon Barbeque at Nk’Mip Campground Clubhouse and Presentation by Similkameen Indian Band Youth Dancers.

 

8:00 pm – @10:00 pm:   Presentations at Nk’Mip Campground Clubhouse;

3.              Adolf & Oluna Ceska: Explorations of Ecological Reserves in the Osoyoos area.

4.              AGM (incl. acknowledgements & determination of next year’s location)

Sunday May 13th, 2007

9:00 am:  Conference adjourns but willing participants can join field trips.  Gather in front of Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre to hear about possible field trips TBA.
